One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a girl picking something up and gently throwing  it into the ocean. Approaching the girl, he asked, “What are you doing?” The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.” “Young lady,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!”
After listening politely, the girl bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, she said, ” I made a difference for that one.”

Mrs. Kaitlin Holiman teaches our youngest grade, P3.  She is a local graduate of Okmulgee; as well as OSU-IT.  She is in her second year of nurturing and mentoring to the young minds at Stonebridge.  In her own words, hear how she is a strong advocate for education.  “I have been a supporter of Stonebridge since the beginning.  I believe since we have such small classroom sizes, the children benefit immensely.  Being able to work one on one with the students and with the help of parental academia reinforcement, students should be almost a full grade ahead of their classified grade level.  Even in my P3 class, I teach a similar Pre-K curriculum incorporating play involvement education.  I teach the basics of future core subjects.  We begin with directional guidance and understanding with the students learning how to line up, sit on the carpet, and how to use the stairs.  By the end of the year my students have been initiated into Language Arts & Grammar, Elementary Mathematics, and Simple Geometry; through learning how to write the entire alphabet, recognizing their numbers from 1-20, recognizing and writing their first name, and recognizing their classmates’ names.  In addition, the students learn their colors, shapes, days of the week, and months of the year.  I encourage motor building skills through appropriate scissors holding & cutting, writing, using glue sticks, coloring, block building, and so much more.”
Being a P3 Educator, Kaitlin is passionate about “her littles” meeting each new educational milestone.  Young children have yet to fully develop a learning style.  Therefore, Mrs. Holiman uses visual (spatial), aural (auditory-musical), verbal (linguistic), and physical (kinesthetic) teaching styles in her classroom.  She recognizes that her students can become overwhelmed, but she is able to remedy their anxiety and discontent with sensory bottles, alone time, redirection, and of course an energy recovery nap.  Just like her students, Mrs. Holiman enjoys de-stressing with a quick nap or expressing her artistic talent through painting.  Being a mother herself, Kaitlin values the quantity and quality of the time she has with her family.  She strongly believes that parental involvement can empower the educational processes more efficiently.   She encourages open communication and welcomes parent & guardian contact.  Mrs. Holiman would love to see Stonebridge outgrow our current building through increased student population and the expansion of passionate educators.  She is dedicated to lifting others and even inspiring them to make mistakes.  She states, “You can learn from mistakes, you can’t learn from perfection.”
