Lynn Wantiez
Music Education
I come to Stonebridge Academy with over 40 years of teaching music in
both public and private education. I graduated from Ponca City High School and Oklahoma State University with a BME. I took extensive course work in Early Childhood Education at Northeastern State University, Broken Arrow. I am actively involved in National Association for Music Education, Oklahoma Music Education, American Orff-Schulwerk Association, and Green Country Orff.
My mission or goal for my music classroom is to introduce students to create music and movement through the playing of instruments, acting
out songs, stories, and creating movement to go with their singing.
Students are encouraged to grow in their understanding of music and how we use it in our lives.
I know that not everyone is as excited about music as me but I find a place in my classroom for the students to feel comfortable. Music is all encompassing with learning styles. We hear (aural), we move (kinesthetic), we read (verbal), and we sing (using all). When students are singing, playing instruments, and moving, it has been proven that all areas of the brain are firing.
I do not expect perfection,
I expect us to try our best.
