Dear Stonebridge Community,
The Viersen Foundation has gifted Stonebridge Academy with $250,000 to establish the Maralynn Viersen Sant Endowment Fund. This endowment will help make a difference in the lives of students at Stonebridge for generations. This is a major milestone for the school. Not all schools have endowments, and this puts us in the ranks of those that do. The hope is that we will continue to receive endowment gifts, and build our endowment into a substantial vehicle of financial support for the school. Back when Stonebridge Academy was only a dream, Maralynn had faith that Stonebridge Academy would make a difference in the lives of the students in Okmulgee. Thank you seems inadequate for what this means to our students, to our staff, to me, and to our community. The Viersen Foundation’s generosity is reflected in the faces of our students every day with the joy I see in them as they learn and grow! Hello parents and friends,
Here are some upcoming dates to remember:
Warm regards, Wren Hawthorne [email protected] My Blog: http://www.sbridgeacademy.org/mr-hawthornes-blog Head of School Stonebridge Academy Be Kind, Work Hard, Get Smart! P.S. We want to make sure we keep our parents informed of all the important things going on. We do this through classroom newsletters, letters from me, our Parent Portal, Facebook, and website, email, and our text alert system. Communication is important to us! If you are missing out on important information, please see me and I will make sure to get you connected. Hello Parents, I have two things I would like to let you know about. First is our upcoming fundraiser. Our annual Oktoberfest fundraiser is coming up on Friday, October 28 at 6pm. If you haven't been before it is a nice time with great German food and dessert, German beer, and live music. This is a fundraiser, and all proceeds go into our Teacher/Staff Appreciation Fund. The tickets are $60 and can be purchased at the front desk. Please consider attending the event and help us show our appreciation to our teachers and staff here at Stonebridge. We also will have some great auction items including a three night stay at a great condo in Aspen. Secondly, we are starting a Stonebridge Parent Association. The first meeting will be October 24th at 6pm. I am attaching a letter and constitution from Shannon Prescott who is helping to get the group started. Thank you all. Warm regards, Wren Hawthorne Head of School Stonebridge Academy Be Kind, Work Hard, Get Smart!

Dear Parents,
Our 3rd grade classes and up will be taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) this next week starting on Monday, October 10. It is important to make sure your child gets plenty of rest starting Sunday night. We are working with the kids to make sure they try their best on the test to allow us to have an accurate assessment of their strengths as well as needed areas of improvement. You can help us by:
We will also be rewarding the students with lunch from a local restaurant. The reward is for the students that are observed working to the best of their ability on the test. Lastly, we will have breakfast (sausage biscuits and juice) Monday morning for the students. Be sure to come a few minutes early (anytime after 7:40am) to give them time to have breakfast before class starts. Thank you for your help! Warm Regards, Wren Hawthorne Head of School Stonebridge Academy Be Kind, Work Hard, Get Smart P.S. For our 8th grade students this test serves as the basis for evaluating their reading level to meet requirements for their driver’s license. |
