Advice From A Tree by Ilan Shamir
Stand Tall and Proud  ~  Sink your roots deeply into the Earth
Reflect the light of a greater source  ~  Think long term
Go out on a limb  ~  Remember your place among all living beings
Embrace with joy the changing seasons
For each yields its own abundance  ~  The Energy and Birth of Spring
The Growth and Contentment of Summer
The Wisdom to let go of leaves in the Fall
The Rest and Quiet Renewal of Winter
Feel the wind and the sun  ~  And delight in their presence
Look up at the moon that shines down upon you
And the mystery of the stars at night.
Seek nourishment from the good things in life
Simple pleasures  ~  Earth, fresh air, light
Be content with your natural beauty  ~  Drink plenty of water
Let your limbs sway and dance in the breezes
Be flexible  ~  Remember your roots  ~  Enjoy the view!

 Shari Farned
Physical Education Instructor and Teaching Assistant

Picture
Mrs. Shari Farned is enthusiastic about promoting physical activity and student wellness through organized games, dance, and creative play.  She is just as dedicated to assisting our educators with their daily lessons.  The opportunities present in the classroom like, cutting, coloring, sorting, critical thinking, body movements, and postural sitting, all contribute to the hand-eye coordination and balance needed to participate in the physical activities of P.E. She feels the main goals in the elementary years are to assist in the development of cognitive & motor skills, knowledge of proper body mechanics, and appropriate exercise and eating habits.
Shari encourages her students to de-stress through physical exercise, creative play, or even taking a nap.  She feels children and parents would benefit from exercising together.  Incorporating family time with walks around the block, playing in the park, bicycling, dancing, or any heart-pumping activity will provide children with the importance of making healthy choices for the rest of their lives.
Mrs. Farned applauds parental involvement and welcomes any questions or concerns you may have.
